Samword Pereira netted a fine brace as Salgaocar FC overcame Sporting Clube de Goa 3-1 in Gfa’s U-14 League at Seraulim ground, on Monday. Salgaocar led 3-0 at the lemon break.

Samword opened the scoring after just seven minutes when he volleyed into the net after the ball was whipped in from the right flank by Aaron Barreto.

Within sixty seconds, Salgaocar doubled their lead when Samword tapped in after receiving the ball from Bryson’s Fernandes’ neat cut back.

Just before the break Aaron Barreto carefully lifted the ball over the goalkeeper for Salgaocar’s third.

Changing over, Sporting Goa looked like a team that had completely transformed. In the opening minute, Shubham Shirwaikar showed great intent when he fired in to pull a goal back for the Flaming Oranje.

Despite Sporting Goa’s resilient fight back they could not further add to the score board.

The Sporting Goa goalkeeper Saish Kunkolkar along with his defence made up of Sanket Kunkolkar, Osrick Trinidade, Cheston Gonsalves and Sherwin Fernandes worked tirelessly to keep a clean sheet.

Midway through the first session, Aman netted his sixth goal in three games when he used pin point precision to guide the ball into the net after a goal mouth scramble had appeared.

Changing over, Aman turned provider as he sent Shanon racing through on goal and still with some work to do Shanon marvelously tricked his way past the last defender and confidently sent the ball crashing through the back of the nylons.

SAI came back from two goals down to overcome Sporting Clube de Goa 3-2 in Gfa’s U-14 League at Don Bosco ground, Panjim on Tuesday. Sporting Goa led 1-0 at the lemon break.

Aman Govekar gave Sporting Goa the lead early on with a scorching shot from 25 yards out which flew into the top corner.

After resumption, Aman managed to double Sporting Goa’s lead when he ran on to a long driven pass and kept his composure to place the ball into the goalkeeper’s far corner.

London Singh pulled a goal back for SAI with a low drive from outside the box which clipped the post on its way into the back of the net.

Moments later, London was sent off for using abusive remarks towards the referee after being booked for a reckless tackle.

This seemed to spur his side own, as Paris Singh found the equalizer from close range soon after for SAI.

Deep into injury time, Paris came up with the winner as he blasted into the net for SAI.

Aman Govekar netted a superb hat-trick as Sporting Clube de Goa eased their way past Churchill Brothers Sports Club 4-1 in Gfa’s U-14 League at DSYA ground, Seraulim, on Friday. Sporting Goa led 3-0 at the breather.

Sporting Goa came close to opening the scoring right from the kick off when Aman shot onto the post and from the rebounder Ashley Noronha’s header flew back off the cross bar. Churchill breathed a sigh of relief, but it was a sign of things to come.

Aman confidently gave Sporting Goa the lead within the first five minutes when he drove the ball low into the corner from team mate Shanon Viegas’ cross.

Within seven minutes, Aman netted his second of the game after latching on to a pass from Nikhil Correira, before stroking the ball home.

Just before the interval, the Flaming Oranje continued to expose the defensive naivety off their opponents when Aman’s cross along the danger area was guided in by Omkar Parwar.

Two minutes after the restart, Sporting Goa were rampant as Shanon showed some creative fluidity in the box with a neat turn to lay the ball on a platter for Aman to steal in and grab his hat-trick.

The young Churchill Brothers players showed real heart and determination to push forward at every opportunity despite the early setbacks. They were rewarded for their efforts when Joan Rodrigues slotted in after the Sporting Goa goalkeeper failed to gather a high looping free kick.
