Man of the match Sean Rooney netted a first half brace as Bengaluru FC overcame Sporting Clube de Goa 3-1 in round 8 of the HERO I-League organised by the AIFF at PJN Stadium Fatorda on Saturday. Bengaluru led 2-0 at the interval.

Sean Rooney blasted in the opener in the 29th minute after receiving a neat flick on from Robin Singh, which capped off a good move by the visitors.

Deep into injury time of the first session, Bengaluru doubled their lead when Sean Rooney’s free kick flew into the roof of the net after the ball took a slight deflection off the wall.

Changing over, there was a moment to smile for the Flaming Oranje when substitute Anthony Wolfe netted his first goal of the season after he courageously ran onto Ogba Kalu’s pass and lifted the ball over the out rushing Bengaluru custodian.

In the dying minutes, Bengaluru inflated the lead when substitute Beikhokhei Beingaichho carved the ball in from close after Sporting Goa failed to clear their lines.
