Sporting Clube de Goa thrash Dempo


The Panjim derby saw Sporting Clube de Goa trash Dempo Sports Club 4-0 in Gfa’s Goa Super League on Sunday, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa. Sporting Goa led 3-0 at the breather.

Valerio Rodrigues opened the scoring after just a quarter of an hour with a brilliant shot from distance.

Sporting Goa doubled their lead after Victorino Fernandes collected a through ball from Ogba kalu and dispatched it into the back of the goal.

Just before half time, Victorino turned provider to set up Dawson Fernandes for Sporting Goa’s third and further deepen Dempo’s misery.

In the second session, substitute Rowllin Borges added the fourth in injury time to help the Flaming Oranje to a memorable victory.


Sporting Clube de Goa U-20 defeat Cavelossim

Pritam Ningthoujam scored a brace as Sporting Clube de Goa Juniors overcame Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim 3-1 in Gfa’s Taca Goa U-20 league at Poriat ground, on Saturday. The match was goalless at the break.
Xavier Dias opened the scoring for Sporting Goa Juniors in the 65th minute, before Pritam doubled the lead.
Cavelossim pulled a goal back through Milton, but in the dying minutes Pritam scored again to complete his brace for the Flaming Oranje Juniors.

Sporting Clube de Goa win 4-3 thriller


Sporting Clube de Goa came back from three goals down to register a hard fought 4-3 victory over Sesa Football Academy at Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Thursday. Sesa led 1-0 at the breather.
Sesa took the lead after just two minutes after Yogesh Kadam got on the end of a free kick to score.
Four minutes after the break, Sesa doubled their lead after Charles Miranda dispossessed Ogba Kalu and proceeded to blast the ball into the back of the net. In the 65th minute, Charles was lurking to tap in a rebound to score his brace and Sesa’s third.
Just when the game looked settled, Sporting Goa carefully plotted their comeback. Kalu struck in the 68th and within 96 seconds Juanfri scored again for the Flaming Oranje.
Ten minutes from time, Dawson Fernandes headed in to level the game and deep into injury time Pratesh Shirodkar scored the winner for Sporting Goa.
Sporting Goa next face Dempo Sports Club in the Goa Super League on Sunday at Duler Stadium.

Sporting Clube de Goa Juniors defeat Vasco


Two goals in the last eight minutes gave Sporting Clube de Goa Juniors a 2-0 victory over Vasco Sports Club in Gfa’s Taca Goa U-20 League on Wednesday. The match was goalless at the interval.
In the 82nd minute, Pritam Ningthoujam struck to give the Flaming Oranje Juniors the lead. In Injury time Lesten Martins’ fine long range strike flew into the back of the net to make sure of the three points for Sporting Goa Juniors.
Sporting Goa Juniors now have 4 points from three matches. Their next match is against Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim at Duler Stadium, on Saturday.

18 Sporting Clube de Goa players to attend Barcelona camp

As part of their community outreach programme, Goan I-League outfit Sporting Clube de Goa has sponsored eighteen players to attend the Barcelona camp, from the 24th to the 28th of April, at Tilak Maidan, Vasco.
A meeting was organised between the management of the club and the parents of the wards, to fine tune the details of the trip.
Speaking on the occasion, Sporting Goa CEO Victor Fernandes thanked Sporting Goa president Peter Vaz for sponsoring the talented players so that they can further polish their skills.
“We are very grateful to our president Peter Vaz, whose passion and vision for Goan football has driven him to sponsor 18 talented players. For the president this is just the beginning, as the club is currently laying a new lush turf with drainage so we can put more emphasis on youth development.”
Speaking on behalf of the parents, Eddie Noronha urged as many parents to go and watch their children participate. “The Barcelona camp is a fantastic experience, but once it is over it is the parents who can also play a major part in promoting football at the grassroots level,” stated Eddie.
Don Bosco student Shanon Viegas, who has recently returned from Barcelona where he was selected along with four other Goans to represent the India XI, was excited to be attending further training with the Barcelona coaches. “In Barcelona the coaches showed us how to position ourselves when in possession and without possession. This has made me tactically more confident,” remarked Shanon.
“The Don Bosco PE teachers have worked hard to achieve excellent results for the school. Football is continuously evolving, I feel if the talented youngsters pick up even one or two new ideas from the Barcelona camp it will be beneficial not only for the school but for our youth teams,” signed off Sporting Goa manager Anju Albuerquerque.

Sporting Clube de Goa down Sikkim

Goals from Dawson Fernandes, Pratesh Shirodkar and Seiya Sugishita helped Sporting Clube de Goa to a convincing 3-0 victory over United Sikkim Sports Club in the Aiff’s I-League at the Paljor Stadium, Gangtok on Sunday. Sporting Goa were 2-0 up at the interval.
Dawson Fernandes put Sporting Goa into the lead after just ten minutes with a firm header from close range.
Deep into injury time of the first half Dawson broke forward and fired the ball at the Sikkim goalkeeper, who did well to make an instinctive save, but Pratesh quickly followed up to head home and double the Flaming Oranje’s lead.
In the second session, Sikkim poured men forward but failed to penetrate past a stubborn Goan defence.
Right at the death, Sporting Goa’s leading goal scorer Ogba kalu blasted a free kick which deflected off Seiya Sugishita and the later got the credit as it flew into the back of the net for the third.

Sesa FA defeat Sporting Goa Juniors


Sesa Football Academy defeated Sporting Clube de Goa Juniors 6-0 in the Gfa’s Taca Goa U-20 league at Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Sunday. Sesa led 1-0 at the interval.
The game got off to a good start with both sides showing attacking tendencies. Deep into injury time of the first half Mauvin Borges put Sesa in front.
Changing over, Sesa dominated with Glen Martins scoring in the 53rd and twelve minutes later Alwyn Cardoza made it three.
In the closing stages Gaurav Pednekar added a brace and Estevan Mendes also got on the score sheet for Sesa.
